The Coffee Emporium – Rouse Hill Town Centre

The Coffee Emporium – Rouse Hill Town Centre

I am back after a hiatus. Now armed with an iPad 2 I can now do my reviews while I sip the coffee at the cafe. You will get a ‘live’ review rather than one that is concocted hours later. I am hitting the cafes of Sydney with a vengeance. I promise at least a couple reviews every week now.

There’s a few advantages of living in the outer north western suburbs of Sydney. There’s more space, a myriad of malls and large multi-purpose home furnishing centres. One distinct disadvantage is the lack of cafe culture. Don’t get me wrong there are cafes aplenty but the emphasis on good coffee is often missing. In Rouse Hill for example you will find the likes of Coffee Club and a couple of family run cafes. Since the Rouse Hill town centre opened my cafe of choice has been The Coffee Emporium. Run by an enigmatic bloke, The Coffee Emporium churns out a range of both hot and cold coffee based drinks. In addition the cafe also has a range of lunch and breakfast options which include croissants, fried eggs on sour dough and even antipasto!

As to the coffee it ranges from decent to very good. I rejoice each time I step into the store and see the owner manning the coffee machine. He delivers a fantastic cappuccino. The balance between the coffee and milk is spot on. The temperature of the cappuccino is just right and the result is a full bodied coffee. His protege delivers mixed results. Some days the coffee is good almost approaching the quality of his boss. Other days the coffee is light in terms of flavour or the milk is nuked. The quality of his coffee correlates to how busy it is. The Coffee Emporium seats approximately 20-25 people with outdoor seating options available. On a fine day it’s a great place to be sipping coffee with soothing sounds of the fountain beside you.

Prices for coffee range from $3.45 to $4.45. The most expensive beverage item on The Coffee Emporium menu is a large blended fruit smoothie at $6.45. Food prices are quite reasonable as well with a big breakfast costing $10 and the antipasto plate topping out at $12.

Recommendation : If you are out in the northwest of Sydney The Coffee Emporium will provide you with the best coffee period, an added bonus is that if the boss is in, he will deliver a coffee experience that could rival the big boys in the city!
