Vella Nero – Clarence Street Sydney

Vella Nero – Clarence Street Sydney

I have been only to Vella Nero about a half dozen times, owing to the fact that I work in North Sydney and the cafe is not open on the weekends(oh Vella Nero please consider opening on a Saturday), yet each visit is like coming back to visit someone familiar. Perhaps it’s the well laid out cafe, its Tiffany blue colour scheme that add highlights to the interior, or even the friendly and sprightly service, or simply amazing coffee and yummy food!

Vella Nero is located on Clarence Street a few minutes walk from QVB and opposite Justin North’s big hitting, hatted Becasse restaurant. With an upstairs and street level seating there are is plenty of room to accommodate its fan-base.

Now to my cappuccino, as mentioned above, it doesn’t take long for my coffee to arrive. I love the latte art and the patterning, and is testament to the little extra effort exerted by Vella Nero’s barista, not to mention skill level. I love the aroma of the coffee and the taste, well it’s near on perfect! Each sip is filled with full bodied flavour, and a tinge of sweetness. There is a strength to the coffee without any bitterness, a hallmark of a great cappuccino. Before too long I am peering at the bottom of the cup. This is how good coffee is made!

Food options are aplenty. If you follow Vella Nero’s twitter stream you will see daily specials. Along with the daily specials are a range of pies, pastries and sweet offerings. A triple chocolate brownie garners most of my attention but I resist on this occasion, but I will be back!

It is really hard to find fault with Vella Nero, while the coffee is the hero, their service is not far behind.

Recommendation : If you work in the city you would be mad to not make Vella Nero a go to for you coffee fix.
